How to Sparkle and Shine in a Metallic Top
A bit of sparkle comes in many forms: jewelry, embellishment with sequins or crystals, metallics, etc. Age doesn’t matter because your true self sparkles and shines, too! Today, I’m sharing a formula showing how to sparkle and shine in a metallic top. I’d like to encourage you to think outside of the box as well. You can wear a metallic top any day of the season as part of your usual casual outfit. And it’s a good piece to wear for virtual get-togethers!
I wore my gold Lurex sweater tunic quite a few times in Christmases past — from the extended family celebration to around the office during the holiday season to holiday brunch with friends. The last time I wore it, co-workers told me it looked so comfy, and it was!

Here’s How to Sparkle and Shine in a Metallic Top:
On her blog You Look Fab, Angie Cox did a great job of describing how to style a metallic top for the holidays. Here are the basic steps:
- First, choose a metallic knit pullover/sweater in gold, bronze, silver, pewter, black, navy, burgundy, charcoal or blush.
- Then, pair it with dressy or casual bottoms. Dressy bottoms include: a pencil skirt or flared skirt, dressy flared trousers, black gauchos or culottes, any black bottoms, or just about anything dressy. Casual bottoms refer to: any color or kind of jeans.
- Add footwear: dressy footwear for either rendition. If you wear boots, err on the dressy side. Think pumps in black or metallic or animal-print or any festive shoe.
- Finally, add accessories. Your bag could be a clutch or a whimsical style. You may add a belt. Add jewelry as desired.
