Over 50 Black Outfits to Wear Spring & Summer: For the Goth & New Yorker in You!
Goths, New Yorkers, me, and probably you like to wear black for a number of reasons. Spring, Summer, and warm weather do not mean we cannot wear this basic color. It’s one of those things that go with everything, including Spring and Summer! Age doesn’t matter. In this post, I share ideas for how to style black outfits in the spring and summer, followed by over 50 outfit ideas.
How to Wear Black in Spring & Summer
During warm weather, just wear black in light, flowing, sheer fabrics. Black is also very wearable in Spring and Summer with a pop of color, or combined with white and other light colors if you like. Tina Adams Consulting has a good post on her blog about this.
But, unlike Tina, I believe that you can wear all black and not feel obligated to mix it with light or bright colors. It’s nice, though, to add color pops to an all-black outfit with: a bright bag, a colorful necklace, a head wrap, a pair of shoes, a belt, or even just a bright lipstick.
An all-black outfit in Spring/Summer can be finished by wearing blue, gold, coral or red shoes. Leopard or animal-print shoes also finish the outfit without the need for jewelry.
When wearing ankle boots during warm weather, perforated is best and suede or cloth is better than leather.
Ways to wear a black dress Spring and Summer
One easy piece that lets you stay cool while wearing black is the dress in all its forms. It can be sleeveless, short-sleeved, three-quarter sleeved, sheer-sleeved, lace-sleeved, short, maxi, printed, etc.
Simply put on your black dress and add your accessories of choice. Add metal accessories to an all-black outfit for a rock-chic vibe. My choice would be boho-inspired accessories.
- At work: A short or long black dress + black ankle boots.
- For evening: a LBD + concho belt or other statement belt.
- A black & cream kimono (or a neutral color like gray, navy or teal) + a black maxi-dress. Add a long necklace.
- A short-sleeve black dress + a long gold pendant on a black cord. Or, accessorize the dress with a long gold pendant + gold ballet flats.
- A black maxi-dress + silver or gold accessories.
- A short black dress + a long pendant.
- A sleeveless black dress + a sheer or semi-sheer kimono. Add a multi-metal necklace.
- A sleeveless black dress + a short-sleeve cardigan. Add a silver or gold belt + bracelets and earrings.
- Wear animal-print or other colorful shoes with a black dress. You might like to add a black jacket or cardigan, a gold bangle and/or other metallic jewelry.
- An LBD + a colorful scarf wrapped around neck + heels.
- A sleeveless black maxi-dress + leopard slip-on sneakers + jewelry of choice.
Ways to Wear a Sleeveless Black Blazer
A cooler alternative to a black blazer in Spring and Summer is the sleeveless blazer.
- Slip a short-sleeve white tee under a sleeveless black blazer and matching black pants. Add simple gold jewelry.
- A black tank top + slim black trousers + long black sleeveless blazer open.
- A printed blouse with black in the print + long black sleeveless blazer + black skinnies. Add pumps + jewelry of choice + sunglasses if sunny.
- Long sleeveless black blazer buttoned and belted over black trousers (no need to wear a top under it).
- Sleeveless black blazer + a black lace tank top + edgy black pants. Add black heeled ankle boots.
- A sheer black top + a short black skirt + a sleeveless black vest belted. Add a charcoal statement necklace.
