6 Outstanding Hair Care Brands to Make You Beautiful
Out of the infinite possibilities when choosing hair care products, I believe you need to use the ones that make the best of your true self. Age doesn’t matter because within one age range, each individual woman has a different type of hair in color, texture, thickness, volume, etc. All of these are criteria for getting the hair care regimen that makes the most of what you have.
One of the hairdressers I go to, Jasmine at Bitonti Salon in Birmingham (find on Facebook), uses Schwartzkopf products on her clients. When she does my hair, it is silky yet feels strengthened. I looks beautiful and stay for days. But when I use Schwartzkopf products at home, I don’t get the same results. (Isn’t that the way?! Can you ever duplicate at home the results you get at a salon? I don’t seem to!)
Living Proof is the only product I have used that gives me perfect hair days. And it doesn’t break me out! I am sensitive to so many cosmetic ingredients.
When I told this to Jasmine, she said, “Everyone I know loves Schwartzkopf! You’re the only one who doesn’t. I don’t know anyone else who loves Living Proof.”
Recently, I was reading a blog review of Living Proof. The blogger didn’t like the products very much, and said that she loved her L’Oreal products the most. I started to comment about how I like Living Proof best, and then thought that it might be because she has a completely different hair type than I do! In the end, I decided to post my thoughts about Living Proof on my own blog.
When Jennifer Aniston was interviewed by WWD, she said “I have wavy, frizzy hair.” I do too, so maybe that’s why Living Proof always gives me a good hair day, but doesn’t do the same for everyone. The No Frizz line is what gives me the good hair days, but not necessarily all of the other Living Proof products. So it could be that all you need to do is choose the line that serves the needs of your specific hair type.
While researching this article, I discovered that the Living Proof website has a test that you can take that will recommend all of their products that would work best for your hair type and lifestyle. It has three parts: shampoo and conditioner, stylers and finishers, and treatments and leave-ins. Since they have gazillions of different products, this is really helpful. And then no matter what your hair type, you should end up happy, no?
My favorite product so far is Perfect Hair Day Night Cap. Just a drop of Night Cap Overnight Perfector worked through my hair before sleeping has me waking up with smooth, lustrous hair in good condition. It quenches the thirst of hair that is getting dry. And the company notes that it is pillow safe, as well as silicone and sulfate free.
In fact, all of their products are silicone free. The reason I even tried Living Proof in the first place was because of an interview I read with Aniston, where she talked about her involvement in testing the products and she said they were as natural as possible and formulated to avoid sensitivities.
Yesterday, I used Living Proof Restore shampoo and conditioner followed by their No Frizz nourishing styling cream, and No Frizz weightless styling spray for heat protection. After blow drying, it didn’t look good to me. Restore just doesn’t seem to make a noticeable improvement in my hair, even the masque. But after I put a few rollers in for ten minutes with some Sally Hershberger hair spray for body, it was looking good. And by the end of the day, it was feeling soft and smooth and silky.
Sally Hershberger, a hairdresser to the stars for decades, was my favorite hair care line until I realized some of the products were causing allergic reactions. Most of her products are botanically based, but I felt that I needed to focus on hypoallergenic and organic products. Sadly, I got rid of the Hershberger products and kept only the purest products.
Jasmine tested the Schwartzkopf on my skin before applying all over, so I knew that I didn’t break out. I tried to do that with Hershberger and Living Proof but it’s hard to isolate which products are irritating. I’m going to keep trying, though, because I want to be able to use as many of my favorite products as I can…Only the very top favorite ones, though, because for me, hypoallergenic and organic are safest!
For contact dermatitis, my dermatologist recommended DHS Clear shampoo and conditioner which are pure and fragrance free. I’ve gotten it by asking my pharmacist to get it for me from behind the counter (not with a prescription, but not over the counter.)
I also use Aveeno hair and skin products for my sensitive skin, and the natural Curls hair care line for my wavy hair.
