How to Heal with the Amazing Energy of Crystals
My birthday gift from my son this year was a chakra mineral starter set of healing crystals, with a velvet pouch containing the chakra healing stones. The gift card said, “Hi, Mom! May they bring you abundance and comfort! From Your Son.”
I was surprised to get this chakra healing set of crystals when I had just posted an article on “How to Use the Amazing Powers of Color.” This was synchronicity at its best! In my color post, I included a list of how to heal and correct the chakras by their corresponding colors.
I decided to share my gift with you. I had already intended to write about crystals, and I will explore the topic more in the future if you like. I hope that the basic information I am sharing with you here is helpful!
When we “cleanse” our chakras with crystals, we dispel negative energy that is building up inside of us and disturbing our delicate energy balance. This promotes both emotional and physical self-healing.
Age doesn’t matter. Throughout history, the wisest healers were those of a venerable age.
Although I may not need physical healing, whatever I want to create in my life is the energy I want to activate. The stones can help me concentrate on that.
They can be carried in a pocket, purse, etc.; set nearby in a spot that corresponds to your desire; or be worn as a piece of jewelry. I have a tiny pouch on a cord that I can put some gemstones into and wear as a necklace. You can put gemstones under your pillow or hang from the rear-view mirror of your car. You can sew stones into your clothes, tape them under your desk, or stash them in your glove compartment. You can put them on your mantle, in a fountain in your home, or on an altar if you made one somewhere in your home.
What Are Chakras?
The chakras are points on your body that are energy centers. There are seven major chakras, and a host of smaller ones, located along your spine, which are made up of constant electrical energy. There are differing opinions on several of the chakras, such as where they are located and what colors are associated with them. So if you encounter different information than what I present here, choose what feels right to you since it guides your energy.
The chakras can be considered gateways. It is up to you whether or how you choose to open and shut the gates. When you open a chakra, you let the energy from that chakra point take over. For instance, if you open your third eye chakra, you become more in tune with your unconscious, calming energy that encourages spirituality and contentment.
The Seven Chakras: Stones and Colors
There are basically seven chakras. Here is a healing chart that came with my set, not just for the colors but also for the gemstones that relate to each chakra.
- Crown Chakra (clear white stone): Top of the head (soft spot on a baby!) – Clear Quartz – “I understand.” Universal crystal, clarity of consciousness. Clears away negative energy.
- Third Eye Chakra (purple or indigo stone): Center of the forehead – Amethyst – “I see.” Calming energy. Encourages spirituality and contentment.
- Throat Chakra (blue stone): Center of the forehead – Sodalite – “I speak.” Logic, efficiency and truthfulness. Enhances group communication.
- Heart Chakra (green stone): Center of the chest – Green Aventurine – “I love.” Independence, leadership, creativity. Aligns intellectual, physical and emotional.
- Solar Plexus Chakra ( yellow stone): Above the navel – Citrine – “I do.” Dissipates negative energy. Warmth, joy and optimism.
- Sacral or Sexual Chakra ( orange stone): Lower abdomen – Carnelian – “I feel.” Fosters peace throughout, imparts self-confidence, and inspires communication.
- Root Chakra (red stone): Base of the spine – Red Jasper – “I am.” Protection, awareness, insight, and grounding.

Energizing Your Stones
Once you have your stones, this is how you energize them for use.
- Hold your stones under Water
- Set on Other Stones: Quartz or Amethyst clusters
- Place in the garden so that they bathe in the light of the Sun or Moon
- Use Sound Vibrations
- Spray with Essence
- Physical Contact (hold or rub them)
- Smudge your crystals by burning Sage
Choosing A Stone
If you want to find stones for yourself, be careful that you don’t pay a huge price for what is essentially a piece of rock. Tumbled stones cost more than rough stones, but it doesn’t matter how rough a stone is; the end result will be the same. Faceted stones, whether set in jewelry or not, are usable as well.
Obvious places to find gemstones would be jewelers, New Age shops, occult stores, online sites and fantasy conventions. Some of the more economical places would be mineral stores that sell stones in bulk, rock and mineral conventions, and little stores that specialize in Mexican or South American wares and beads. If you have a business, you can try to get your stones wholesale at a beading company or similar place. If you want, you can even find stones on the ground.
How do you know which stone to choose? If one catches your eye, buy it! Go with the ones that feel good to you. Don’t worry if the stone that feels right to you isn’t the prettiest. Surface markings, scuffs, chips and inclusions will have no effect on the stone’s properties.
Color therapists use the chakras as guides in healing, but what do you think about gemstones and minerals? Do you think they can heal? Do you have beautiful gemstone jewelry that you might think about using now that you’ve read about some of their effects? Let us know your thoughts by leaving a comment below!
