How to Get an Easy Chic Brunch Look
Going out to a restaurant for brunch can happen anytime during the year: for meetups with friends or colleagues, for holidays such as fathers’ day or mothers’ day, you name it! Age doesn’t matter.
If you don’t have a brunch date coming up, why not make one? Take a tour of the pancake houses with a regular meetup, like my friend and I are doing. 😀 Time for good food and coffee! It’s a great way to catch up.
Some rules of thumb are:
- wear a special top and statement jewelry since that will be seen above the table,
- wear comfortable bottoms so you that you can sit with your friend for a long stretch,
- wear flats in case you go for a walk after brunch.
Following are over 50 outfit combinations for what to wear out to brunch, from special occasions to business meetings to getting together with girl friends to going out with a special someone. Many of these are classic outfits that are the norm. But when you look in your closet and can’t think of a thing to wear, these ideas can help you choose what to pair with what that will give you the right style and comfort level.
Brunch Outfits, From Dressed Up to Dressed Down:
Dressier combinations
- Brunch Date: A sheer blouse + a camisole + pants in a color to match blouse. Add a cuff + earrings + a big ring.
- A lace top + a structured jacket, any color. Add pants to match the top, or blue jeans.
- Any color leopard-print blouse + a short or long skirt to match a color in the blouse. Add a necklace + pumps.
- A soft white tee or blouse + a crochet skirt. You may want to add a beige safari blazer.

- A sweater dress + tall heeled boots + a trench or bright-color coat.
- A sweater dress + tall boots, or closed-toe shoes with tights. Add a bold printed scarf or bold jewelry.
- A bright color tunic + black leggings. Add statement earrings in a color to match tunic.
- A ruffled blouse + blue jeans. Add a gold belt + a long gold neck chain.
- A matching top and bottom set + a pop of color, like turquoise. Keep the other accessories neutral in color, or something in the green family.
- A bright day dress + jewelry in a contrasting color.
- A boyfriend blazer + a sun dress. Add a statement necklace.
- A summer dress + a light pullover. Add flats.
- A white tee + a maxi-skirt with lace and/or sequins.
- A tank top + a maxi-skirt. Add a sling bag + flats.
- A beige cardigan worn as a top + ivory pants. You may want to add a camisole in case it gets warm and you want to unbutton.
- A cream sweater + khakis. Add gold flats.
- An open-weave black sweater + gray jeans. Tie a glittery scarf around your waist as a belt.
Brunch with Friends
- A pretty dress + heels or flats. Add a bold printed scarf or bold jewelry.
- Pants + a nice top. Add a bold printed scarf or bold jewelry.
- A tunic sweater + skinny jeans. Add ankle boots for walking, gold disc earrings, a gold/studded bracelet or something else, sunglasses if sunny.
- Dark jeans and/or skinny jeans + a flashy type of top or tank. Add boots.
- A comfortable button-down + cargo pants. Add flats/sandals.
- A skirt + a nice matching button-down. Add flats.
- A long floral dress + a cardigan. Add ballet flats or slouchy boots for taking a walk.
- A casual bohemian-style shirt + skinny jeans. Add a blazer + flats/gladiators + a fedora. You might also like to put your hair up.
- A long, textured cardigan + your favorite boots. You might like to add a striped top + skinnies.
Casual combinations
- A long camisole + leggings + a duster cardigan/jacket. Add flat sandals.
- A slouchy knit sweater + drawstring pants. Add polished accessories, such as heels, etc.
- A black or charcoal oversize tee + black leggings + black moto jacket. Add black ankle boots + black shoulder bag.
- A tunic tank + leggings + a bomber jacket. Add printed sneakers.
- Throw a tailored blazer over basic shorts + a sweater. Perk it up with extras in pink, aqua & coral (necklaces, bracelet, sneakers/shoes, bag).
- A polka-dot camisole or a print tank top + a cardigan to match a color in the cami/tank + blue jeans. Belt & add a bracelet.
- A gray tee + white jeans, or a white tee + gray jeans. Add a patterned scarf.
- A tunic sweater + leggings. Add ballet flats.
- A sweater + blue jeans or khakis. Add a statement piece of jewelry.
- A black t-shirt + white pants. Add brown, gray, ivory or blush pink accessories, or maybe a bright color like turquoise or something in the green family. You may want to top it off with a straw hat.
- A simple polo + khakis. Add gold jewelry, such as a bangle.
- A long-sleeve Henley + khakis. Add a burnished brown belt + a pendant on a cord.
- A peasant blouse + jeans.
- A t-shirt + trousers + sneakers.
- A t-shirt + lounge pants + a jean jacket. Add espadrilles.
- Pants with a stripe down the side + a sweater in a toned color. Add ankle boots + a necklace.
- Twill pants + a t-shirt in a color toned to the pants. Add a turquoise pendant.
- An ivory tee + tan pants + a jean jacket.
- Twill pants + a blouse to match the color of the pants. Belt & cuff the pants.
- A long-sleeve tee + blue jeans. Add a long strand of beads.
- A tunic in a color toned to a colorful pair of workout leggings. Add flat-forms, wedges, platform sandals or slides.
- A t-shirt + patterned bottoms (pants, skirt or shorts). If cool, add a jean jacket.
Sunday brunch, coffee date, or even a movie night with friends:
- A poncho + a turtleneck + skinny jeans.. Add ankle boots + bangles.
- A graphic tee + a boyfriend cardigan or open-knit cardi + destroyed skinny jeans. Add flat tan or brown boots.
