How to Stay Warm in the Winter Without the Bulk
Extreme cold is here in Michigan this week, so it’s time to get serious about bundling up when we go outdoors. If you are also experiencing low winter temperatures, you don’t have to wear bulky coats and end up looking like a blimp. 😀 There are ways to wear layers that keep you just as warm as a bulky parka and look better too.
This is an installment in my Style Tips series. You can find lots more tips HERE.
Today’s style tip incorporates one of this year’s trends: a motorcycle jacket. Age doesn’t matter. Here’s how to layer for warmth in an up-to-date way:
Style Tip:
A (faux) leather motorcycle jacket + a heavy sweater + a wrapped scarf is a substitute for a bulky parka.

I love the look of a moto jacket, but I need something longer. Now that I have a Liquid Leather jacket, I would definitely wear it for a short period of being outside!

I tried this tip and was surprised that it kept me warm on a very cold Winter evening! My warm sweater was long and similar to the color of the jacket, so it gave me the length I need, because I’m long waisted.
We don’t get a lot of cold here (As you no doubt noticed by all the southern daisies complaining about the cold in Atlanta at the Summit!), but when we do, I always laugh. Born and raised in Wisconsin, I have a healthy respect for the cold, and how quickly it can take hold Why people don’t grab gloves, a hat, and a scarf is just beyond me…
Glad I don’t have to bundle up like this at the moment; it feels like springtime here in Seattle. When we get back to the deep freeze in Ontario, I’ll definitely be layering and wearing scarves and hats and gloves and boots and sweaters and warm coats. I have a similar pom pom hat, scarves are essentials in cold weather.
