2 Eyeshadow Tips for a Bold, Colorful & Lasting Look
Today I’m sharing another tip that I learned from my friend Michelle, who is an artist when it comes to makeup. Last time, she helped me with my post “How to Make Your Lipstick Colors Look Spectacular.” This time, I have two eyeshadow tips for a bold, colorful and lasting look.
I always have a problem with eye makeup smudging for some reason. So I like to know how to avoid that. If you have this problem, you might like to read my post “How to Avoid Frustration from Makeup Smudging Under the Eyes.”
Michelle told me how to apply eyeshadow so that it doesn’t disappear or crease over the course of the day. You may have seen this mentioned somewhere before, but it bears repeating for those of us who want our eye makeup to stay put.
Below, I am sharing with you Michelle’s advice and another similar technique. So here are two eyeshadow tips for a bold, colorful and lasting look.
Age doesn’t matter, although it does end up making you wiser! 😉
How to Apply Eyeshadow So It Stays
Coat eyeshadow applicator with eyeshadow, spray the shadow that’s on the tip of the applicator with makeup setting spray, then apply eyeshadow. Since the eyeshadow will be wet, it will go on bolder and thicker. And then it will dry on your eyelid and have staying power.
You’ll want to follow this procedure, and spray the shadow after it is picked up on the tip of the applicator. Because if you spray the applicator first before dipping it into the shadow, it will create a hard finish or film over the shadow in the pan. That’s called hard panning.
If you do end up with hard pan, use a piece of clear scotch tape to lift the film off the top. It’s supposed to work like a charm.
I would also advise using a disposable eyeshadow applicator instead of an eyeshadow brush so that you don’t end up needing to dip a wet brush into the shadow in the pan.
How to Apply Powder Eyeshadow So It Goes on Boldly as a Liquid
Here’s an alternative makeup technique. If you like bold color that goes on like a liquid, you could dip your eyeshadow applicator into the eyeshadow and then spray the tip of the applicator with water. This way, you keep your eyeshadow pan clean without getting it all wet. Then the shadow will dry on your eyelid with bold color.
