It’s a Good Time to Ensure Lifelong Health
It’s a time of awakening to the changes we need to make. As we self quarantine in our homes, some of the improvements we need to make for lifelong health are most likely becoming very clear to us. Age doesn’t matter. And even better, we have the time to cook good foods, exercise, sleep, drink more water, and all those things that are good for us. Now is the time to make that effort because staying in good health and having a strong immune system starts with having good health in the first place. So as we attempt to avoid getting the Corona virus or any flu virus, it’s a good time to ensure our lifelong health.
Are People Over 60 Really More Vulnerable Physically?
I was a bit skeptical when I read that people over the age of 60 were some of the most vulnerable. I thought that was a generalization that everyone over 60 was at a frail point in life. But that’s not what I see. My community of friends virtually and in real life are quite healthy women who look much younger. I felt that they should probably not be lumped into a category of people who are frail and vulnerable. But I’m not an expert, so…what do you think?
Map a Plan for Lifelong Health
Ultimately, I think now is a good time to ensure lifelong health no matter what our age. I have some tips that can help, so I’ve provided links below to help map a plan to get strong and stay strong.
Exercise
I normally have an excellent sense of self-discipline. But lately I have been lazy about fitting exercise into my day. I hadn’t realized until I started writing this that my shattered routine is a result of the fact that my normal exercise classes and facilities are no longer available to me. I was in the swing of going to yoga class and Zumba dance and that came to an abrupt stop along with no gyms available. Also, it has still been cold and rainy where I live so walking or jogging or biking or kayaking was out of the picture. So I’m happy to discuss this right now because I need to get myself back on track.
I wrote about the ideal exercise plan before in my blog post “What is the Perfect Exercise Plan for Your Body Type?” So rather than try to go into it here, I’ll just let you take a look at the information in that post to help you decide how to up your exercise game by clicking HERE.

Mirabai at Moving Free with Mirabai Holland, M.F.A., EP-C, CHC is one of the leading authorities in the Health & Fitness Industry. She is a fitness coach, has an online workout club, sells fitness DVD’s and equipment and has fitness videos on YouTube. Along with her free offerings, everything is discounted on her website right now.
Phyllis started a blog called Follow Phyllis because she was tired of seeing and hearing the same old dialogue about middle aged women, regardless of what number you put on that term. She believes that we must first stop thinking of ourselves as over the hill and then begin to reinvent ourselves! She says, “I’m not suggesting that we totally turn our lives around; what I am suggesting is that we take a look at our behaviors and find areas where we can comfortably make some changes that will have a huge impact on how we feel about ourselves.” So if you have decided to create a new more youthful, healthier self, just followPhyllis HERE!
Food
Kristen at The Culinary Cure fought cancer and depression by turning the simple daily habit of eating into a superpower! She is now an author, speaker and culinary disrupter. You can check out her Culinary Cure HERE.
Sleep
While we are in self quarantine, it’s probably no problem to get enough sleep. But don’t forget to make your optimum sleep schedule into a new habit that can last. It’s so good for you! My son struggled to get enough sleep when he was a hard-working actor in New York City. Now he is quarantined in his home in Los Angeles. But in my Health Goal Diary (HERE), there are three entries chronicling his attempts to get the sleep he needed. They might be helpful to you: “How Your Friends Make It Easy to be Healthy: Calories & Sleep” HERE, “How Your Friends Make It Easy to be Healthy: Sleep & Fats” HERE, and “How Your Friends Make It Easy to be Healthy: Sleep & Swim” HERE.
Water
If you aren’t drinking at least six glasses of water a day, now is a good time to up your intake. Coronavirus and flu viruses thrive in cool, dry environments. So having warm drinks throughout the day helps to make your body an unwanted host to viruses. If you do come down with a virus, drinking water all day helps to flush out the toxins. When this threat is over, water sustains your good health and good looks too! My Health Goal Diary (HERE) has an entry that might be helpful to you. Why don’t you take a look at my post “How to Improve Your Diet & Hydrate” HERE?

Yes, you can see by my health goal diary (referred to in this post) that I have been working on improving health habits for years. It’s two steps forward, one step back. And without my exercise groups or the gym, I’m one step back right now. Plus I caught the flu. (It’s very mild so I’m not worrying.) So anyway I’m not ready to start a new exercise program until I am done resting and waiting it out!
