Style Tip of the Day: How to Mix Flannel with Posh
My Style Tip of the Day shows you a few ways to mix flannel with posh to make every day feel special or special times feel more laid back. It’s a good way to stretch your wardrobe and add panache. Age doesn’t matter. In fact, you could take this tip and run with it by choosing more pieces in the same categories as the ones mentioned. Let’s take a look!
Style Tip of the Day: Wear a flannel shirt with lace, tulle or sequins. Then add oxfords or Converse.
A Flannel Shirt And Lace
- Wear a flannel shirt open or partially open over a lace camisole, tank or dress with your favorite bottoms.
- Leave your flannel shirt open as a jacket or tied at waist over a lace dress.
- Tuck a flannel shirt tucked inside a lace skirt.
- To stretch this idea a little further, you could use: 1) a cotton plaid shirt, 2) a flannel or plaid poncho, or 3) a flannel or plaid blazer instead of a flannel shirt.
A Flannel Shirt And Tulle
- Cinch a plaid flannel shirt with a wide belt over a tulle skirt. You can wear whatever you want under the shirt, from lace to sequins to a t-shirt or even a turtleneck. Add pumps.
- Tuck a flannel shirt into a tulle skirt. Or tie it at waist over the skirt. Add sneakers, such as Converse, to wear this outfit anytime.
- If you want to stretch this idea a little further, you could: 1) use any chiffon skirt or chiffon palazzo pants, or 2) use a cotton plaid shirt instead of a flannel shirt, or 3) use a flannel or plaid poncho or blazer instead of a flannel shirt.
A Flannel Shirt And Sequins
- Casual Date Night: Wear a flannel shirt open as a jacket with a sequin skirt (long or short) or pants and any top.
- Anytime: Wear a flannel shirt open as a jacket over a sequin top with any bottoms. For day, add oxford shoes or Converse-type sneakers.
- Use a flannel shirt as an evening cover in the fall over a sequin dress.
- I love wearing a plaid flannel shirt open over a sequin tee with blue jeans.
- To stretch this idea a little further, you could: 1) use a cotton plaid shirt in place of a flannel shirt, or 2) use a fitted plaid blazer in place of a flannel shirt.

I don’t even own any flannel! Debbie looks so coo in that outfit!
Hi, Nancy! If you don’t have a flannel shirt, you probably have a plaid shirt you could use. I know you’d look great. 🙂
