Why is the Focus of This Blog “Your True Self”?

Did you ever wonder why the focus of this blog is “Your True Self”? I chose that name because of my favorite style:  bohemian. It’s a free-spirited style that is nature-based and creatively expressive. Everything about it is based on being true to who you really are. Once I was inspired by this idea, I discovered how many more sides there are to your true self.

Some of those other aspects of your true self include:

• the wide range of styles that express different personalities
• feeling encouraged to show who you truly are
• the deeper meaning of your true self
• the realization that age doesn’t matter
• and how women are transforming society by expressing themselves

The Wide Range of Styles That Express Your True Self

For years, my favorite way of relaxing was to curl up on the couch and look through magazines for new outfit ideas. After awhile, I had so many notes that I filled binders. I finally realized I could never in a lifetime get to wear all of them! So I decided to share them with the world.

I myself get bored wearing the same outfit twice. I love to come up with new ideas and ways to mix it up. I don’t see any sign of me stopping. That’s how I end up exploring the wide range of styles available. I have discovered endless possibilities using all styles from classic to trending. So you can always find something that speaks to you and leave the rest.

Encouraging You to Show Who You Truly Are

When I express my own true self by sharing my own outfit ideas with you, I naturally end up encouraging you to feel free to express yourself as well. I hope for you to find outfit combinations that you love. Because whatever you gravitate towards will be the perfect expression of your true self. So choose the styles you love, the colors you love and play up your best features. Everyone has them. Focus attention on that.

The Deeper Meaning of Your True Self

Deep down, your true self is your soul. It’s who you have always been inside that doesn’t change. That’s where you are always young, with your own unique beauty. That’s why age doesn’t matter.

The Realization That Age Doesn’t Matter

As I approached 60, I felt that there was barely any style advice for vibrant women over that age. Life doesn’t stop for women after 50. They don’t stop getting dressed every day. They shouldn’t have to feel that they should cover their bodies more and more all the time and give up looking good. No wonder so many women over 40 have started their own blogs. We are living longer with better health than ever before, in better shape physically and looking pretty good! Age doesn’t matter, now more than ever.

So that was when I started this blog. We have more to give the world than just cook and clean. And we have the right to be appreciated in body, mind and spirit.

How Women Are Transforming Society at All Ages

As I create style posts, I illustrate the styles I’m describing. It is extremely difficult to find photos online of women over 40, let alone over 60. The lack of older models online is a shame. It’s also a shame that young girls are so sexualized in the fashion industry. Sometimes I wonder if brands are selling skin rather than clothing.

These things are beginning to change. But it is still very rare to find examples of how clothes being sold today will look on women over 40, 50, 60, 70 or 80. We’re earning money and living longer than ever before. It seems to be the last frontier in the modeling industry because diversity in color, size body types and unique features are becoming widespread already — but not diversity in age.

Women Are Becoming Bolder as They Get Older

When you get to the point that you no longer have to work at a job and you’ve gained wisdom, it’s about time to wear what you love and show your true self. Older is bolder because you don’t have to fit into anyone else’s mold. You get to relax and do your own thing. And you don’t care much about what anyone else thinks anymore.

So be playful, creative, artistic and have fun, with clothing and with life! Being your true self means living with joy. I hope to inspire you.
