Style Tip of the Day: How to Dress Up an Outfit With Long Necklaces
Welcome to my style tip of the day from my Style Tips Series. Today’s tip will give you inspiration on how to dress up a basic outfit with long necklaces. Age doesn’t matter.
Style Tip of the Day:
Add long necklaces to a t-shirt, such as oversize chain necklaces, large pearl strands and necklaces with chunky accents. For business casual or low-key social events, add a matching bracelet.
This tip is both classic and trending now. This summer, designers emphasized long necklaces, pearls and chains in their collections. Once you have these pieces, they will last forever. Besides adding style to the simplest of basics, they are versatile enough to go with nearly anything. T-shirts never looked so good! Let’s take a closer look.
A white tee and jeans with long strands of beads, a belt and topped with the Anna Corinna Gauzey Button Down Shirt from Free People.Jeans and a white tee benefit from a jumble of colorful beads. The third piece, a shirt worn unbuttoned as a jacket, adds another dimension of polish to bring the most basic of outfits up a notch. Roll up the sleeves for a modern, laid-back touch.
Beads can add a pop of color to a classic Breton striped tee. Suddenly, all eyes will be on you!
Long necklaces of any sort elongate a long t-shirt, adding a slender vibe to your outfit.
A beautiful long necklace upgrades a t-shirt for work, especially when worn with a blazer and a bracelet and/or watch.
If you’re going to a casual social event, your favorite long necklace makes a simple t-shirt or even a graphic t-shirt look worthy of stepping out.
A long necklace and coordinated accessories can add unique style to any t-shirt. For example, the Southwestern accessories and turquoise necklaces amp up the Western flavor of the buffalo graphic tee above.
A long statement necklace adds sudden drama to a t-shirt and jean jacket. It’s casual yet striking!

Great tips and style inspirations!
Thanks, Lola!
I love long necklaces with 3/4 length and long sleeve Ts! I think all of these are beauties. I have a black onyx bead necklace with a faux ivory carved monkey that I need to find and wear! Thank you for the inspiration!
Your onyx bead necklace sounds precious! And onyx absorbs negative energy so you should feel happier wearing it (especially with a playful little monkey attached 😉
Thanks for telling me about the powers of onyx. I had no idea!!
Different necklace styles are so great for changing the silhouette of certain tops and dresses. I love having a huge collection of different styles and lengths in necklaces for exactly this purpose! I love the effect of longer necklaces in breaking up patterns on large blocks of color, too. This is a really great post, Angie. So many wonderful styling tips and I love all the images and the beautiful necklaces featured! Thanks for linking with me.
