4 Style Tips: Velvet Looks from Simple to Spectacular for Evenings & Holidays
Today my series of velvet outfit ideas culminates with four style tips in one post! These tips give you velvet looks, from simple to spectacular, to wear for evenings and holidays. From Christmas morning at home to sparkle and shine, just take something you own in velvet and try these different ways of wearing it. Age doesn’t matter. You may be surprised how many outfit combinations you can come up with!
Style Tip #1: Velvet Looks for Evenings & Holidays
Mix velvet with rich-looking fabrics such as satin, (faux) leather and anything that shines.
Style Tip #2: Velvet & Sparkle
Pair velvet with sequined pieces for a spectacular evening look.
Style Tip #3: Velvet Meets Silk
Take a silk or velvet tunic or dress and combine with a silk or velvet topper. Then add statement earrings or layer pendant necklaces.
In other words, pair a silk tunic or dress with a velvet topper; or pair a velvet tunic or dress with a silk topper. Choose any bottoms you like, from materials or colors to match the tunic, or leggings, or even jeans. Layer at least two-to-three pendant necklaces.
There are other possibilities for combining velvet and silk, of course. And I’ll bet you can think of them:
- A silk top with velvet bottoms
- a velvet top with silk bottoms
- A silk topper with velvet skirt or pants and a shell top
- A velvet topper with silk skirt or pants and a shell top
With all of these possibilities, I hope I have inspired you to create new outfits with your silk and velvet clothing that may not have thought of before. This can even enable you to wear your silk and velvet pieces for a week straight in different ways!
Style Tip #4: Christmas Morning at Home
Wake up and relax all Christmas morn in a velvet active set, such as a hoodie and matching pants…or a jumpsuit!
This simple outfit is usually made of velour. They come in all sorts of styles from sporty to glitzy. I say “wake up” because you can even sleep in the most casual lounge set. That makes it easy to bound right out of bed and be ready for the fun when your children discover Santa’s gifts!
