How to Wear Green for Peace, Love & Colorful Outfits!
As I write this, St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner. But and St. Patrick’s Day and Earth Day are not the only times of year to wear green. There are many reasons to wear this color. As plants bud in the springtime and become lush in the summer, dressing in green surrounds you with the fresh and vibrant energy of life. The peaceful feeling it evokes makes for a good mood. Green can also be therapeutic for the heart. With all that goodness, I decided it would be great to explore how to wear green more often for colorful outfits. Age doesn’t matter when you add such a youthful, invigorating color to your style!
How to Wear Green for Peace, Love & Colorful Outfits
The Healing Mood of Green
For many people, the color green has strong associations with nature and brings to mind the lush greens of grass, trees, and forests. Green is often described as a refreshing and tranquil color. During times of stress, wearing green can be almost as calming as taking a walk in nature.
In color therapy, green is healing for the heart. For more love, joy and happiness, correct your heart chakra by wearing green.
What Colors Go Best With Green?
Green is a color that goes with anything, as do turquoise and denim blue. Here are some colors that pair especially well with green:
Green + white, black, navy, gray, taupe, blue-green, blue, yellow, red, coral, pink, turquoise, lilac, yellow green or other greens
Examples:
- A green wrap top + a blue skirt or pants
- A white cardigan and shell top (such as a cardigan, tank or tee) + a green skirt or pants
- An ivory top and pants + a green cardigan
Other Shades of Green
Besides all the colors to combine with green in general, here are some colors to combine with certain shades of green:
Jade + spruce, navy, antique white or plum
Mint green + peach, coral, poppy red or cobalt blue
Sea green + ivory, light-to-medium yellow, peach, lavender, darker blues, tan or chocolate brown
Pale or pastel green + dark green or red
Dark green + sky blue, white, beige, bright red or pale yellow
Green as a Colored Neutral
Olive, moss and forest green can be used as neutrals. This means they can be worn with just about any color. Other names for neutral greens are eucalyptus, fern, juniper, army green and khaki green.
Best Pairings for Green Colored Neutrals
Pair olive with rust, coral, violet red or red violet, purple or mustard (for more color pairings and examples, see my post “What Colors Go Best With Olive” HERE.)
Example: A rust top, tunic or duster with olive pants.
Wear army green with coral or peach to take it from neutral to colorful.
Moss green goes well with red, persimmon, lilac or purple or pink for more colorful outfits.
Olive and moss green both look good with light blue or teal.

These are great ideas! I need to give green a go. I dyed my hair green, but I don’t have any green clothes!
Wow, sounds like you’re about to embark on a color adventure!
So many attractive shades of green. My coloring tends toward the autumn/spring palette. So, I wear several shades of green regularly. Nice post! Pinned.

Hi, Carol – Thanks for the support! I really appreciate it. XO, Angie
I don’t wear much green, but these are great styling ideas!
Blue green is my favorite color. Maybe there is a shade you like that you hadn’t thought of that you could explore: from warm to cool, light to dark, soft to bright.
That green coat from Anthro is such a nice color!
Yes, pure kelly green!
As a redhead, I wear green fairly often, so your post was of great interest to me. What I found so amazing is that you suggested pairings that I would have considered out of the ordinary for green. You’ve given me knew ways to wear my green clothes and accessories!
That’s exactly what I look for: new ways to wear our clothes and accessories! Right now, the brighter and bolder the colors the better, so some of the pairings for green are eye popping! Thanks for confirming that my purpose is being fulfilled. 😉
