Style Tip of the Day: How to Beautify Black Lace
Well, here we are in the full swing of the holiday season! This post is a part of my series highlighting lace for creating special outfits. Starting with this style tip on how to beautify black lace, I will follow up with a couple more blog posts on lace tops and lace turtlenecks.
Please feel free to use these outfit ideas any time of year, as lace is lightweight and good for any evening event. And remember, age doesn’t matter because lace is classic and therefore classy. It puts a veil over flaws while still showing skin in a seductive way.
Style Tip: How to Beautify Black Lace
Tip: Wear black lace over red or any other bright or jewel color.
Black lace is normally worn over black. But black doesn’t flatter the complexion of most women, especially in winter when the skin is pale. For me, the point in wearing a bright color is to brighten up the black next to the face. Plus, it looks more interesting.
Black crochet lace warms up a sleeveless top or dress. If one of your pieces has long sleeves, all the better for keeping off the chill.
The dark color transforms a summer color like coral, turquoise, etc., to look fitting for the cold-weather months.
The mesh duster above has sections of lace, showing that mesh can work with today’s style tip as well. The model’s turtleneck is a shade of orange, seeming to veer toward mustard. So stay open to choosing whatever bright-color top or dress you like as your base layer.

These are such great ideas for the incorporation of black lace into an outfit! I really love the look of the Sheer Tulle Mesh Black Kimono Jacket/Cardigan, Angie!
Thanks, Lola! The duster length of that jacket/cardigan is a beautiful addition to a colorful outfit.
