Soft Surroundings outfit and statement necklace.
1. A Statement Necklace
The simplest thing to do is to add a bold statement necklace to any outfit. Or, you can add a crystal statement necklace to a little black dress, a floral dress or a simple silk blouse.
2. A Little Black Dress
An easy piece to take you from day to evening is a black sheath dress.
Going From Casual Day to Evening Events
- Add a sparkly belt to your jeans, whether metallic, glitter, rhinestones or a narrow sequined scarf.
- When wearing jeans, add some bling. For example, layer rhinestone bracelets on both wrists with non-rhinestone bracelets.
- With a t-shirt + jeans, add a handful of long dramatic necklaces.
- For day, wear an embroidered top + a knit maxi-skirt + chic sandals. For evening, switch to a black camisole & chunky ankle boots.

Oh, where were you back when I often had to change from office attire to cocktail or dinner event attire in the ladies’ room at Young & Rubicam with my friend Mary Ellen? We both lugged fancy dresses and jewelry to the office and changed our clothes and shoes (matching, of course, back in the day), and amped up our makeup. You have given us so many options! I love it!
Maybe I was stopping at home on my way from work to go out for the evening? Lol! I guess I’m just older and wiser. 😉
What an array of amazing looks, Angie. Such practical and smart tips take the look from day to night this summer!
Nowadays, I really like putting on one outfit that I can wear morning, day and night no matter what is happening 😉 Thanks for taking the time to let me know your reaction!
