Warm Weather Style Tip: Cool Outfit Formula of the Day
This spring, the temperatures went up and down until summer started. Then it got extremely hot. And now, at the end of summer, the temps are going up and down again. Was it like that where you live? I expect the heat to persist throughout September, like it did last year. And who knows? Maybe October will be warmer than usual as well. So I believe there’s plenty of time left to use this warm weather style tip.
You can stretch this outfit formula to create new outfits you may not have tried before. Even if you use this tip in classic ways, I hope it inspires you to mix your clothes around in new combinations. Age doesn’t matter because you’ll be using loose clothing to stay cool.
That’s not to say you can’t use this outfit formula in the fall and winter. All you have to do is choose longer sleeves, warmer fabrics, stockings, boots and layering techniques.
Warm Weather Style Tip:
Wear lightweight loose-fitting trousers, linen pants or gauze pants under a caftan or tunic. Or, wear them with a plain t-shirt or tank in any material (cotton, silk, linen, etc.)
These trousers are made of a flowing material. Wearing your trousers with a t-shirt and sneakers is a super comfortable way to style them. There are lots of trousers made for lounging nowadays. Some are in comfy materials, others are cut in loose shapes and some are both.
See my post to find out more about how to wear trousers in a relaxed way HERE.
A tank top and airy pants with sandals is a cool and laid-back outfit for a hot day, whether relaxing at home or going out to do errands.
Try a tunic over flowing pants with sandals. Then you might like to accessorize with long beads or necklaces to elongate your look and keep things cool.
This beautiful beaded tunic with wide-legged pants is an easy way to go out to evening events. If you’ll be standing, walking or dancing though, you might want to wear some other type of footwear that’s more comfortable.
Cropped pants, especially in a terry knit, is absorbent and loose enough to help you keep your cool.
Loose linen pants are the perfect option with a tunic-length top, caftan or kurta. You can find out how to wear a kurta American style HERE.
Besides the pants shown in this article, you could also use palazzo pants, cargo pants, lounge pants, and other flowing and wide-legged pants.

That’s my summer uniform when I’m out and about! I love loose trousers with a loose top even though we’re supposed to do that whole balancing out the volume thing! I honestly don’t care when it’s as hot and humid as it’s been!

The tunic or caftan over loose pants is a style worn in India and the Middle East. It’s the perfect outfit to keep covered from the sun yet allow air to circulate around the body. So you know what you’re doing, Marsha! XO – Angie
