Easy Ways to Create Casual Fall & Winter Evening Outfits
When I’m getting dressed for an easy evening, I look through the styling ideas I’ve gathered throughout the years. I collected outfit combinations to help me quickly put myself together in new ways. Otherwise, I get bored by wearing the same things in the same way time and again. If you feel the same way, I hope you find inspiration from the variety of looks I share with you in this post and in my blog. Below are my notes on casual Fall and Winter Evening outfits. Age doesn’t matter.
As I was organizing this category of outfits for you, I noticed a pattern. You may already know this. It’s all a matter of mixing casual with dressy to take day to evening. I’m sure that it works the same way in any season.
We can wear anything we want from our daytime wardrobe, including the most casual. And then, all we have to do is dress it up by mixing with bling, sparkle and whatever is the opposite of casual. So I’m sure there’s a world of new outfits that we can discover just by looking at our fanciest wardrobe pieces and accessories. When we throw them into the mix, a beautiful evening is ready to happen.
On the other hand, we can start with something that’s more special than our day-to-day attire. In many cases, this can mean something that usually seems too nice to wear on a normal day. Then, mix it with the opposite: something casual like a denim jacket, hoodie, cardigan, jeans, corduroys, sneakers, etc.
Now, let’s take a look at some ideas that may inspire you!
Easy Fall & Winter Evening Outfits
- A topper, such as a special blazer, jacket, duster or kimono instantly transforms a column of black (black top & black bottom) or jeans and a tee.
- Jeans & a sweater in a special color like red or a jewel color. Add gold, such as a gold belt and/or statement gold jewelry (something big and bold or with sparkle.) Finish with heels in black, gold or a color that matches the sweater.
- Out with Friends: A deep v-neck sweater over a sleeveless maxi-dress. You may like to add ballet flats + a chain link purse.
Dress Up a Simple Cardigan
- For Fall: A t-shirt + any black cardigan + a black floral skirt. Add boots + a shawl or jacket.
- A black boyfriend cardigan over a black sequined top + blue jeans. Try buttoning just the middle button on cardi. Push up the sleeves and add a cuff bracelet.
- A black boyfriend cardigan + a black sequined top + blue jeans. Add gold earrings and bracelets.
- A black hoodie cardigan + an embellished top + black trousers. Add nice boots.
- Wear a gray cardigan over a lacy black shell & blue jeans. Add a pearl necklace with bling.
Contrast a Denim Jacket With Something Fancy
- Start with a basic tee + jeans + a jean jacket. Then dress that up with a statement necklace + glittering heels + an evening clutch. You may also want to add a belt.
- A jean jacket over a leopard top + black pants. Add earrings + special rings.
- Top a dress with a jean jacket and pearls, a combination that’s perfect for easy evenings!
- A black scoop-neck top + black velour pants + a jean jacket. Add a black belt with jeweled buckle + black boots. Curl your hair.
Add an Edge With Faux Leather or a Moto Jacket
- Wear a black leather jacket over a black lace or sequined tank top & blue jeans or corduroy pants.
- Add an edge for evening to a plaid shirt & skinny jeans by topping this casual combination with a moto jacket. Add gold heels for a dressy touch.
Tip: Try a touch of ethnic bling for casual evenings
- A basic tee + skinny denim or corduroy bottoms (pants or skirt) + a slouchy sweater jacket (push up sleeves). Add heels + some color with an ethnic bag + a pendant on a cord. You may also want to add extra pendants about the same size as the first + metal bangles, bracelets and/or cuffs on both wrists, and a bindi on your forehead.
