Style Tip of the Day: How to Sparkle and Shine Anytime
At the time of this writing, it is the holiday season. This is an update to the original article that was posted in February of 2022. As we were coming out of the pandemic and its aftermath of epidemics at that time, it felt good to celebrate life. Since 2021, fashion had been having a sparkle party. And it continued. With this style tip of the day, you can easily sparkle and shine anytime without buying new clothes. It doesn’t have to be during the holidays and it doesn’t have to be when breaking free from a pandemic.
Use this styling idea to create outfits for anything from casual days to special evenings, from out on the town to a romantic evening at home. Age doesn’t matter because older is bolder! Here’s the style tip of the day:
How to Sparkle and Shine
Style Tip: Choose sparkly statement earrings and build an outfit around them — anytime!
It’s not too hard to build an outfit around sparkly statement earrings since you can add them to any outfit anytime to add drama. Statement earrings are simply larger and glitzier than usual.
Although statement earrings are often saved for special events, they really are extremely versatile. They can go as easily with jeans and a tee as with a lacy dress or little black dress (or long one.) So don’t save those big, sparkly earrings for a special day. Dig them out and wear them with anything any day.
One way to build an outfit around earrings is to choose clothes in the same or contrasting colors.
Shiny gold statement earrings can go with just about anything. Try adding them to whatever outfit you have on when you’re at a loss for how to accessorize.
You can even wear some statement earrings with a faux leather jacket. Start with either edgy earrings with a tough vibe like a spiked design. Or on the other hand, pair the jacket with its opposite: sparkly earrings that have a very feminine or playful look.
An easy outfit idea for your sparkly statement earrings is a neutral outfit such as black, shades of white, or black and white together.
Try sparkly earrings with a turtleneck. They especially stand out with a black top, no matter how casual the top is.
Sparkly earrings can go beautifully with anything fringed, which has gone beyond trends to become a classic style. Or pair sparkly earrings with something Western style.

I have lots of sparkly earrings. Going to start wearing them….yes you have inspired me..
The last couple of years, I didn’t manage to look festive every day of the season (I’ve got a blog post “How to Look and Feel Festive Every Day of the Season.” ;D). But this year, I’ve gotten the hang of doing it in a simple way. For instance, I’ll just add something sparkly to my basic outfit – like earrings, jewelry, belts – or just wearing my regular outfits in red or green. It feels really good! Happy Holidays <3
I love statement earrings and have a few pairs. At the moment my hair covers my ears, and doesn’t suit me pulled back, so I’m wearing necklaces instead. But I’m sure I’ll go back to a shorter style. Thanks for linking!

Whoa, I just gave away a bunch of my statement earrings from the 1980s. I guess I acted in haste, lol. But I am all about sparkles, and though my statement earrings are pared down in terms of size since my poor earlobes can’t take the huge ones anymore, I love your suggestions about how to create a look around the earrings!
I also got rid of any earrings that are now too heavy on my ears. There are lots of big lightweight earrings available. We just have to check on that first nowadays. Although earlobes become more delicate as we get older, age doesn’t matter because we can still sparkle and shine by adorning them with lighter weights. 😉
I have some statement earrings but don’t wear them often enough. You’ve inspired me to wear them more often! They sure add to these beautiful outfits.
