Style Tip of the Day: An Easy Way to Dress Up a Black Tee

From my Style Tips Series (HERE,) I have a new one to share with you today. It’s an easy way to dress up a black tee. I often stretch a good original outfit idea myself to get more ways to use it. It works! So go on ahead and feel free to use this tip with other black clothing as well. Try other black tops, such as:  a long-sleeve or short-sleeve solid black t-shirt, a graphic black tee, a tank top, a blouse or shirt, a sweater or a dress. Age doesn’t matter. So why don’t we take a look at how to do this?

Style Tip:  How to Dress Up a Black Tee

Style Tip:

Dress up a black t-shirt with a black necklace.  It adds texture and shine!

Spikes on your necklace add a bit of edge. Beads can lend Bohemian style, especially if they are layered on.

The black on black theme can easily be translated into a Gothic look.

Here’s the same idea, only with a jersey tee dress.

And here’s an example of navy on navy.

You can do the same with any color match, really. It’s the texture and shine that counts. Texture is what brings out the best in all black or all white. Other colors usually are interesting in themselves.

  • As a Spring black isn’t in my color palette. But i miss the ease of dressing it up, and still have a few black pieces I enjoy wearing. Nice ideas! Thanks for linking at Is This Mutton

    • Hi, Gail – I mentioned in this post that the same can be done with other colors such as navy blue. My palette is the same as yours, so I would prefer to wear a navy necklace with a navy top. I used to be addicted to wearing black so I still have some black tops. When I occasionally wear black I choose a lower neckline, make sure I have a tan and accessorize with gold or a complimentary color near my face. With this style tip, I would choose a gold & black necklace for myself. Thanks for visiting!
