How to Combine the New Fall/Winter Fashion Colors Now
Nowadays, it seems that the end-of-summer weather is still too warm even after Labor Day to wear the Fall clothes that our society expects. During this time, I like to explore seasonal colors to get in the mood. And then when we’re in the swing of Autumn with crisp, cool temperatures followed by the cold Winter, our clothing colors automatically change to match the natural world around us. (See my Style Tip on How to Dress With the Changing Seasons HERE.) No matter what the weather, I’m here today to help you find out how to combine the new Fall/Winter fashion colors now and later in bold and creative ways. Age doesn’t matter.
This is my annual update on the Fall/Winter trending colors. There are traditional Autumn wardrobe colors and then there are those that the Pantone Color Institute has noted as trends on the Fashion Week runways. To find out about timeless classics, see my post “How to Use Colors That Will Get You in the Fall Spirit” HERE.
In this post, you will find out about the top ten New York Fashion Week (NYFW) Autumn/Winter 2024-2025 (A/W 2024/2025) trending colors identified by Pantone, as well as the five new core classic neutrals. Then I have a style tip for you. And finally, I will give you ways to combine these hues in your outfits.
You will be able to find variations of the colors from the New York collection in American stores easily as they stock up for Fall and Winter sales.
What Are the New Fall/Winter Fashion Colors?
“Colors for NYFW Autumn/Winter 2024/2025 strive for balance between the more familiar and the new and exciting, embracing longevity and seasonless style,” said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute. “Functional and adaptable, they are reliable and robust, servicing our increasingly hybridized style of living, providing a strong chromatic foundation and at the same time delivering playful and energetic accents for moments of magic.”
Peach Fuzz
Let’s start with the Color of the Year 2024, Peach Fuzz. A shade of peach was one of Pantone’s A/W colors last year as well. Normally, this is belongs in a Spring palette, but now is the time to enjoy peach in your outfits for Fall and Winter. For inspiration, see my post on this 2024 Color of the Year HERE.
Here are the rest of this season’s color trends:
Tomato Cream
This is a reddish shade of toast. Pantone calls it a nourishing hue that warms the soul.
Scarlet Smile
Scarlet is a warm, bright red with hints of orange. Wear it for an advenurous feeling when you want a glamourous and decadent red that captures desire.
Golden Palm
The blouse above uses a shade of Golden Palm as the background of the print.
Aventurine
Pantone says Aventurine is a rich, mineral-based tone. It’s closely toned to teal, which would be a good alternative to find in your closet or in stores.
Aventurine is, in fact, considered the luckiest of crystals and is also known as the Stone of Opportunity. So I would suggest wearing this gemstone as jewelry at this time.
For more inspo, see my post “What Colors Go Best With Teal for Sensational Outfits From Summer to Fall?” HERE.
Red Orange
The blend of red orange is featured for A/W 2024/2025 for the second year in a row in its plain and simple form. That’s how integral this color is to the sights and feels of Autumn. Pantone calls this a vibrant shade connected to energy and empowerment. And it will definitely make us feel cozy during the dreary days of a cold Winter, almost as good as a crackling fire!
Fern
Olive is a perennial favorite for Autumn and this year is no exception. But Pantone is favoring a version of it this year called Fern and describing it as a leafy green rooted in the natural world. It is a medium olive green. But go ahead and use any shade of olive as you like. Choose your shade according to what looks best on you and/or what you love the most!
Italian Plum
Pantone’s Italian Plum is a deep, dark purple. Cloak yourself in this color’s magical energies.
Moonstruck
According to Pantone, Moonstruck is “a shadowy gray hue that lives behind the clouds.” Wear any light gray to achieve the same mood this season.
Winter Sky
Moving on to Winter, this blue is a medium light shade of cyan. The Color Institute calls it “a cooling blue hue that takes our breath away.”
Lucent White
This shade in described as “an optically brightened white conveying effective simplicity.” The color of snow, this is another harbinger of Winter. But since pure white is so basic, it can give your outfit a touch of class anytime.
NYFW A/W 2024/2025 New Classics
Pantone also notes a classic color palette for each season. These are the basic neutral colors that you need all year round, year after year. They have lasting worth, so they are a good investment.
White Swan
This is a “soft and downy white full of grace.” It is basically a creamy beige color that lends itself to an elegant look. So if you already have something of this sort in your closet, think of it as a basic that can make an outfit look glamorous and elevated.
Raw Umber
This what Pantone calls “a grounded brown emotionally connected to the earth.” Use any medium earthy brown that works for you.
Dark Gull Gray
This is a basic color named “a solid and dense gray that is forever relevant.” This makes sense because a dark gray is conventional and serious. Or, conversely, it can make your outfit edgier and moodier. It’s a go-to that always fits in.
Baritone Blue
Look for a rich, deep and dark blue hue to go with everything during the colder months. Or use navy in its place.
Buckthorn Brown
This beautiful earth tone is a golden brown. It is a steady basic that works easily into your Fall wardrobe and continues to be useful throughout the Winter.
How to Use the New Fall/Winter Fashion Colors
Style Tip:
The trick to looking good wearing seasonal colors is to combine them with your most flattering colors. If they are colors that are not flattering to your skin tone, you can use the seasonal colors in your accessories.
The Trending Colors That Are Best for Your Skin Tone
If you have golden tones in your skin, hair and/or eyes, your best colors are warm. If you have bluish undertones in your skin, your best colors are cool. For each trending color (to make it easier to identify, I am assigning a general name to the Pantone name for each color) note whether it is a cool or warm color. Some are neutral (called universal colors), which can be worn by everyone.
If you are not sure whether your coloring is warm or cool, bright or soft, light or deep, you might like to check out my post “Did You Know Colors Can Make You Look Amazing?” HERE. I’m in love with the universal teal gemstone color! It’s so much easier to get in the mood for Fall in late Summer by changing our wardrobe colors. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. XOXO

Good to see a combination of warm and cool colours in the Pantone selection. It’s often not very easy to find the exact shades until the following year. Thanks for linking!
I agree, Gail! Thanks for the linkup . 😉
Oh my god! I loved that color wheel cardigan. Ordering now! 😍
I love when that happens! I’m so glad you found something perfect for you. Thanks for letting me know. XOXO, Angie
So, I still adore red and especially the Malbec Red suit!!
And red must be a classic fall color, right? As Malbec is a wine, it’s a lasting winter color choice as well. I’m glad you let me know your favorites! ;D
I’m not looking forward to fall, I love summer way to much. But I always get excited to see the fall collections. Love the warm colours.
I focus on the moment so, like you, I enjoy summer until the autumn equinox. But I am aware that Labor Day in the U.S. is celebrated as the last weekend of summer and people are feeling the approach of fall. I post the fall/winter colors just before fall when it’s still warm weather because just applying the palette to our summer outfits does bring on the excitement of the new season. On the equinox, I will begin to get serious about putting away summer clothes a little at a time to make room for cold-weather essentials. Thanks for visiting!
