This is the first in a series on animal-print outfit ideas. I introduced this series with three style tips on some of the best, classic and popular ways to wear these prints. Today, the focus is on animal print tops.
This post starts with outfit combinations for blouses, shirts and tunics in animal prints. Other posts in the series cover: the general colors that combine well, as well as ideas for how to pair animal prints with jackets, blazers, suits, skirts, faux leather pants, blue jeans and more. With all that variety of choices, age doesn’t matter!
Animal-Print Tops
Leopard print is my favorite animal print and maybe yours, too. And there are lots more such as cheetah, snakeskin, zebra, tiger, cow and giraffe. If you want to stretch a bit, you could include graphic prints with birds, puppies, ladybugs, etc. Graphic tees such as these are found in my final post of the series.
I hope you’ll use this guide as inspiration to get new and interesting ways to wear all things animal. So let’s get started on this series with the many ways to wear animal-print tops!

Style Tip to Tame the Ferocious Beast:
To add a soft, feminine touch to the sexy, wild vibe of animal-print tops, just add pearls!
Some Colors That Go Well With Animal Prints
Here are a few outfit ideas to show how to use various colors with animal prints. Neutrals always blend in with the palette and the urban vibe. But solid brights pair easily as well.
- A leopard top + brown pants or skirt.
- Choose colors for your outfit that match one or more colors in the top. Or pair your top with a black skirt or pants.
- A leopard top + brown or black skirt or pants. Add a long brown bead necklace.
- A leopard-print t-shirt + a grey cardigan + grey pants or skirt.
- A bright-color cardigan (such as cobalt blue, for instance, or red) over an animal-print top + black pants or skirt.
Start With a Blouse or Shirt in an Animal Print
- An animal-print blouse + black pants or leggings, depending on the length of the top. Add bright-color accessories. Or, accessorize with gold hoop earrings + a big gold ring.
- A grey leopard-print shirt + a gray skirt, pants or gauchos + black heels.
- Why don’t you try an animal-print blouse or shirt with an animal-print skirt?
- An animal-print blouse + black or charcoal pants or skirt. Add an animal-print purse + sneakers.
- A colorful animal-print blouse over a black midi dress. Add black textured tights + black pumps.
- A black cardigan + a leopard blouse + gray bottoms (skirt, pants, jeans, etc.)
Start With a Tunic in an Animal Print
When choosing bottoms to go with a tunic, remember to keep them slim to balance the top. Also, note that a tunic is longer than mid-length and covers the derriere. If it’s not that long, slim bottoms are not necessary.
- Animal-print tunic top + cream pants. Add a cream-color purse + big gold dangle earrings.
- An animal-print tunic + ivory skinnies. Add stacked narrow gold bangles + gold earrings, such as large or medium hoops or dangles. If sunny, add sunglasses.
- A beaded, embellished animal tunic + black skinnies. Add statement earrings + some gold bangles with a narrow beaded bangle in between or a statement ring.
- Pair a leopard tunic-length blouse with brown leggings or skinnies. Add big gold hoop earrings + a statement gold ring + tan suede heels.
- An animal-print tunic + black leggings + a draped leopard vest. You might like to add a belt.
- An animal-print tunic + loose black pants.
- Animal tunic + animal-print leggings + black heeled sandals. You might like to add something in a toned color. Or, you could add a third pattern/print in any color (if the color is different, match the print.)
- An animal tunic + printed leggings or pants. You might like to add an Indian-style shawl.
- An animal-print tunic + a long pencil skirt.
- A leopard tunic over a black turtleneck and a black skirt. Add black tights & oxfords + a teal scarf.
- Pair an animal-print tunic with black faux leather leggings.
- Wear a snakeskin tunic over an ivory printed chiffon skirt.
- A snakeskin tunic + an ivory or leopard draped vest + slim bottoms.
- Lengthen an animal-print tunic with a black lace slip dress or extender. Top with a black leather jacket. Add black tights + leopard-print booties + a leopard scarf + a coin necklace.
- An animal-print tunic + slim-cut khakis.

I love animal print and these are all great ways to wear it! I especially like the third outfit with the deep red Converse – I bought my daughter some exactly like those and now I wish we were the same size so I could recreate that look!
