The Peacock Shows You How to Stand Out

If you haven’t yet, I’d like to encourage you to let your true self stand out and be noticed.  Go ahead and be bold, like the peacock!  Show your true colors, inside and out.  Age doesn’t matter.  Why wait?

If you are reading this, it is time to be blessed with the magic of the peacock’s message.  If you want others to be blessed with this energy, share this article ?

Close your eyes and imagine the peacock’s glowing array of colors.  Feel the power of that beauty.  Now take that inspiration and think of how you’d like to express yourself just as freely and boldly.

What are your favorite colors?  Which ones look best on you?  What are your best outfits?  What have you worn that makes you feel beautiful, sexy, powerful?  Put these things on rotation and wear them again…(not something I say often, huh?  Usually I’m all about variety.  I’ll have to take my own advice.  Lol!)

In Indian lore, any living creature that comes across your path brings you a message.  These “totem” animals represent the subconscious mind, giving the information about the energy held.  The Indians believed that each and every one of these beautiful powerful animals have medicine powers and knowledge to share.  When you see them, they are helping your to learn, grow and expand your consciousness.

I’d like to talk a little more about true beauty within and without…

How to Get the Rock Chic Look

Let me introduce you to my good friend, Sinderella.  She has had a career singing, playing bass, recording and touring with several bands.  Those include Glitter Trash, Madhouse and Fillmore Slim, as well as support for LA Guns!  She has also worked in film and TV.  I asked Sin if she could tell me:  “How can women over 60 get the Rock Chic look?”  She has honed a nice glam rock look for herself by now that she can pass on to the rest of us.  Right off the top of her head, she gave me the tips that I’m sharing with you here today.  Since age doesn’t matter, her advice can work for anyone who wants to rock this style!

About Sin

Back when I was 20 something, I knew a guy who got a really creative haircut.  I asked him where he got it done.  He directed me to Sin, who was doing hair in her basement back then.  I had her try some daring do’s on me, and we’ve been friends ever since!

Today, she co-owns Paula’s Barber Shop in the Historic Depot Town of Ypsilanti, Michigan, where she is known for doing Rock ‘n’ Roll Hair.  She also teaches art and guitar.

Sin very graciously sent me photos of her style and took photos of her wardrobe items.  She said, “These are all I could find not in stage wear!”  Just so you know, Sin dresses like this every day…

So I present to you Sin showing us her glam rock look.  Following her tips and looks is a glam rock wardrobe capsule based on what she’s wearing in the photos.  She said, “Mix and match, to create any look!” Continue Reading

Learning How to Support Ourselves and Our Sisters

influencers-of-midlife-reinventing-midlife_orig

I was pleased to be invited to attend the Influencers of Midlife Summit months ago for an early bird discount, but at the time I didn’t have the funds available.  Then, a week before the event, I came across some new information on the event.  I suddenly realized I could now afford it but had to pay full price since it was the last minute.  I found a great flight package that included The Hotel at Avalon where the conference was being held.

I spent the money, cancelled all my plans for the weekend, and flew out to Alpharetta, Georgia, just north of Atlanta.  My goal was to learn more about blogging and to contact sister bloggers to collaborate with.

I learned so much that it scared me once I was back home in Detroit.  What made me nervous was the immense time commitment to social media that I heard was necessary.  Can I really spend two hours a day on social media when I do not yet have money to hire help?  That’ll be the big question for my technical assistant @fuzzytek at our next meeting.

The best thing about the Influencer of Midlife event was being surrounded by women in their 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and beyond who were full of youthful vitality putting their unbounded energy into big goals.  They prove that later in life we are wiser and more capable than ever before to do things in a bigger and bigger way.  Age truly doesn’t matter!
