As I write this, we are nearing the end of winter in my part of the world. I, myself, am continuing to enjoy the winter with hygge living. (For more on that, see my post “It’s Always a Good Time to Explore Hygge Style” HERE.) But most of us are looking forward to spring. It’s still cold and warm clothes are necessary, but wearing white can feel fresh and remind us of spring and summer. Fashion no longer dictates that white is restricted to those seasons; white is now worn year round. So the question is: how to wear white when it’s cold outside?
We can use color to signal the coming of spring. Why don’t you try creating outfits with white and then as the first flowers bloom, add pops of spring colors to what you wear every day? You can get inspiration for that from my post “Want to Know How to Use Spring Colors Now?” HERE. When dressing by color, one size fits all; so age doesn’t matter.
Besides, mother nature looks beautiful in sparkling white snow. Why not take a cue from her and sparkle yourself, perhaps in white faux furs and crystal white jewels for instance? Let’s take a look at the different ways to get cozy in shades of white.

Now that the Pantone Color Institute named their Color of the Year to be Very Peri, I discovered a lot that I hadn’t known before. For one thing, I thought I had only one periwinkle top but discovered it is a light blue. And for another thing, I discovered that I actually have five tops and six scarves that are actually periwinkle but I had thought of them as shades of lavender. When I discovered that, I got interested in combining those pieces into a variety of outfit combinations based on what colors go well with them. Suddenly this blog post was born because I wanted to share with you what I learned. You will find out how to use the color of the year by mixing and matching with other colors in your closet to get the most outfit combinations you can from what you have.
Periwinkle is featured in the True Spring color palette. But actually it is a universal color that looks good on anyone, depending on the shade. And when you use color to your advantage, age doesn’t matter. That’s because wearing your most flattering colors next to your face makes your skin look clearer and your eyes stand out. And you’ll get a beautiful effect with your natural hair color, too. You don’t have to stick with the exact shade of Very Peri. The stores aren’t; they’re offering a wide variety of purples and lavenders. So choose from cool or warm, light or dark, bright or soft shades of purple to find what’s best for you.
