Earth tones are the basic neutrals that continue to be a classic component of cold-weather style year after year. They are the backdrop or even the monochrome composition for other trending colors during the cold seasons. Think spice colors and all sorts of browns including mustard, turmeric, curry, cinnamon, maize, gold, burnt orange, cognac, chestnut, saddle brown, toffee, coffee, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, camel, tan, sand, taupe, khaki, stone, oxblood, burgundy, maroon, bronze, rust, tortoiseshell and animal patterns in these earthy shades. Include greens such as olive, forest, sage and moss for even more options. You can mix earth tones with ANY palette. Age doesn’t matter. It may seem that summer is coming to an end with Labor Day and back-to-school preparations. But this year’s autumn equinox isn’t until September 23rd. And if recent years are an indication, the weather will still be quite warm until then. During these last days of summer, you can keep tropical weather and last-minute vacations in mind by looking the part. After Labor Day, you can start in on Fall colors if you like but it’s not necessary if the weather is 80 degrees Fahrenheit! The equinox will come and then there will be time enough to dress in the Fall spirit. So I chose my style tips of the day to focus on how to wear shades of white now and into Fall.
