How to Look Cool in The Heat of Summer
When it’s hot outside, it’s best to be at the pool or the beach. But if you can’t go there, it feels good to dress in a cool and breezy way. I have tips on how to look cool in the heat of summer with lots of outfit possibilities to share with you. Age doesn’t matter.
How to Look Cool in the Heat of Summer — tips on how to beat the heat and look good doing it!
Here are some things you can wear that help you to stay cool:
- Accessorize with a delicate gold chain necklace, earrings, a silk camisole, cotton head scarves…
- Cool and lightweight, the following materials are great forms of jewelry during hot weather: shell, mother-of-pearl, pale tones of wood, pale materials…
- On scorching hot days, wear a shift or shirt-dress.
- Use breathable fabrics like cotton or linen, or light and airy fabrics like chiffon or silk. Some say silk does not breathe, but I have felt cooler with a silk shirt as jacket or a loose silk tank top.
- Consider workout clothes as an option. I have worn moisture-wicking t-shirts and underwear in place of my regular tees on very hot days. And terry cloth absorbs sweat.
- Lightweight fabrics with structure don’t cling like stretchy or flimsy fabrics like nylon and such. Light colors will reflect the sun away from you, rather than soaking it in like black does.
- Athleisure pieces may be cool, comfortable and yet put together in styles that can go anywhere.
- Wear loose rather than form-fitting clothing.
- Shorts or skirts are cooler than pants; but if wearing pants, choose wide-leg, palazzo or harem styles.
- Eyelet or open-weave knits have built-in ventilation.
- Chambray is cooler than denim.
- Only wear unlined clothing.
- Wear sleeveless or short-sleeved tops.
- Bring shade with you by wearing a hat or bringing a lightweight scarf along to keep the sun and sweat off of you.
- A bandanna can keep your hair off your neck.
- For evening, wear big gold hoop earrings with gauzy black cotton.

Well, don’t you look glamorous in your leopard dress!! My favourite look is the eyelet skirt, I have a similar one—actually two—white and teal. I also love wearing palazzos in the summer. Linen and cotton are my favourite fabrics for summer. Great styles and tips!
Happy summer!

Excellent suggestions Angie. I find I’m wearing shorts a lot more. I used to think I was too old for shorts, but really, who cares? I love the chiffon print maxi skirt. Thanks for linking!
Hi, Gail – Age doesn’t matter, does it? I’ve actually been encouraged lately by bloggers like you who are supporting going sleeveless and wearing a bikini…just because they want to and throwing cares to the wind! Thanks for coming by – Angie, https://www.yourtrueselfblog.com
